Movies with food by Paul Ainsworth at The Royal Cornwall Showground throughout August
Event in line with government’s social distancing recommendations
Following the huge success of the Drive & Dine Theatre events held across the UK in collaboration with Chef Tom Kerridge earlier this summer, Ainsworth and team are excited to welcome the concept to North Cornwall.
The Royal Cornwall Showground will play host to a revival of the classic American drive-in cinema screenings. Guests can choose from an impressive selection of award-winning blockbusters, family favourites and must-see classics, all the while enjoying an exclusive menu curated by Ainsworth, from the comfort and safety of your car.
Renowned for his playful culinary style, Ainsworth’s menu offers a nod to the typical American retro drive-in scene. Enjoy, for example, a souped up version of your cinema staple, Nachos, served here with an Oozy Cheddar Fondue made from local favourite, Davidstow cheese, and a Jalapeño Salsa. For something more substantial, try a Drive In Dog – not just your regular hot dog, served in style with a Clotted Cream Brioche Bun, Fairground Onions, Pickles and Mustard Mayo. An amazing selection of drinks includes
Each car will be provided with a device to hear the movie through and a parking bay to which food and drink is delivered directly. All that’s left for you to do, is sit back and enjoy the show on the world’s largest mobile HD LED screen.
A wide selection of films are on offer, including drive-in classics such as Grease and Back to the Future, and a number of maritime-themed favourites – think Jaws for the thrill-seekers or Finding Dory for the younger (or just more faint-hearted). Musicals such as La La Land and The Greatest Showman, Mamma Mia and Bohemian Rhapsody should lift spirits inside your car while more recent blockbusters are also available including Le Mans ‘66 and Knives Out.
