Paul and Emma Ainsworth relaunched The Mariners pub in Rock, Cornwall in May 2019. The 130-cover local, which looks over Cornwall’s Camel Estuary, is back open with a new menu and interiors to match. As ever, Sharp’s Brewery lead on the beer offering!

The Mariners is open daily, offering cream teas and all-day menu. Food is served across both floors, with both areas now available to book. The menus, designed by Paul and joint Head Chefs, Joe Rozier and Tom Dawes focus on British classics while championing the best of local produce.

“Emma and I are so excited to have reopened The Mariners last May. I’m lucky enough to have an amazing team at the helm, including two incredible head chefs, Joe Rozier previously at No.6 and Tom Dawes who has worked at Caffe Rojano for the past 7 years. The Mariners has been an institution since the 90’s and I’m so thrilled to be a part of its great history and to continue working with one of the world’s best breweries, Sharp’s. I plan on keeping this Cornish jewel a destination for the local community and holidaymakers alike and look forward to welcoming guests.”

Meet the Team

Joe Rozier

Head Chef

After leaving school at 16, Joe went straight into hospitality. He joined the team at Paul Ainsworth at No6 in 2014, working on every section in the kitchen and becoming Senior Chef de Partie in 2016. A phenomenal cook, Joe’s passion for all things food and his loyal dedication to the company was rewarded with the opportunity to become Head Chef alongside Tom.

Tom Dawes

Tom joined Rojano’s in the Square as a kitchen porter at when he was 17, and through hard work and ambition he developed his skills as a chef, cooking the Rojano’s dishes to a superb standard. After leaving to work in London for 2 years, Tom returned to Rojano’s in 2017 and quickly worked his way up to Senior Sous Chef. Tom’s approachable demeanour makes him a great leader, and his passion for food excellence led to the exciting opportunity to head up the kitchen with Joe Rozier.

Paul Dodd

Operations Director

Paul Ainsworth has known Paul Dodd for over a decade, since they worked together under Marcus Wareing at Pétrus in 2002. After working in London under Gordon Ramsay and Marcus, Paul left to travel, and in 2010 Paul moved to Padstow and took the role of General Manager at Rojano’s in the Square. 2018 saw Paul become Restaurant Director at Paul Ainsworth at No6, followed by a move in 2019 to become Operations Director at The Mariners Public House. Paul is dedicated to looking after all of our guests’ needs, and works hard to ensure that every customer has the very best experience during every visit.
